If I find it difficult to communicate with other people who speak Spanish. It is even more difficult for me to communicate whit people who speak other languages. Even so, the need for communication with the rest of the world prevails. I have used Google translate. I don't know if the result is positive or not. The point is that they will understand me a little better, at least I think so...
We are a group of people affected by the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) and we come from all the Autonomous Communities of Spain. In relation to the Minimum Vital (IMV) Income, we inform you of a fact that apparently goes unnoticed by the government and some media, are the claims for improper collections of the IMV in the letters that Social Security sends us.
The way in which these alleged improper charges are claimed from us:
The IMV review is made with retroactive effect, it means that you have charged, for a whole year, an erroneous amount. Those arrears that are generated take months to pay and that amount can harm you to receive other aid. For example: you used to charge €60 a month and suddenly it tells you that you received almost €300, but you don't see those arrears until a year later. And they deny you food aid because you have already received!
If in 2020 they granted you the benefit, they did so with the data from 2019. In 2021, the review established by the Law with effect from January 1 was carried out in December; so if with the 2020 Income you exceeded the scale, the amount charged did not correspond to you. And, in 2022, claims for improperly collected charges have been received, in some cases thousands of euros!
In the Social Security letters, claiming undue charges, they indicate that the debt must be paid within 15 days with a 20% surcharge. If it is not paid within the established terms, the debt will have a default interest of 25% and the enforcement procedure will begin. The debt is not paralyzed even if it is in legal proceedings, but the amounts for the interest generated continue to rise.
Which is unfair because the Minimum Vital Income is aid for people who are in a situation of economic precariousness. This way of collecting the debt leaves the recipients of the IMV totally defenseless.
It is up to a Judge to determine if the error of improper collections is from Social Security or from the recipients of the IMV.
For those who this year receive the Thermal Bonus, in next year's Income it will come out as income and the following year, when they review, with their Income, the perception of the IMV they will have to return this amount if they received 100% of the Guaranteed Income.
Some Deputies of the Community of Madrid, without needing it, requested and took advantage of the Heating Voucher for vulnerable consumers.
